Absolutamente no! (absolutely not)

That is what Italian designer Valentino Garavani says when he doesn't get his way. How do I know this? Well, by watching his 2008 film "The Last Emperor" (late, I know) in which my favorite oompa loompa (and I say that with love) debuted his fabulous diva personality, as well as his last collection after 45 years of living and breathing couture.


I am no movie critic but this movie is a must watch. It gave me that "this is why I love fashion feeling".
It shows the passion that he puts into creating clothes, and the effort that is put into creating high couture pieces.
The movie also has the sad factor, because Valentino's retirement means the end of period where clothes weren't just clothes..clothes were art, pure, handmade garments. That is a concept that is not completely lost, but that culture of fashion for the sake of beauty is slowly being pushed away by the craze of manufacturing and selling, selling, selling.
Also, did I mention it is hilarious! Seriously, who doesn't love a pushy little orange man!

1940's, decade of the big bands, the jitterbug, the pin-up girls, and Christian Dior's glamour.. and to honor one of my favorite designers I decided to play the femme fatale part for the second part of the 1940's inspired photoshoot.

I am wearing a DVF dress, Coach gloves, Dior sunglasses, Nordstrom statement necklace, and my interlocking C's, and of course KILLERRR Christian Louboutins Their name is Pigalle and they are by far my favorite shoes ever made (that's a great title in my books).

                         

It was freezing, so before we finished the photoshoot I grabbed my photographer's sweater & when I was ready to call it a wrap she decided to snap some more

                          

Ever heard of the phrase “Beauty is pain”? Well, these beauties are  indeed painful.

But at the end of the day when you turn a 1000 heads with them it's worth it

Le petite coquette

This is the first outfit of a vintage inspired photoshoot.

Hopefully you guys like the turn out (or may I say you guys better like the turnout) because I was freeeezing my butt off!

I am wearing Diane Von Furstenberg's Fall 2008 collection, which was 1940's inspired (and my absolute favorite).

As for shoes, I am wearing the Christian Louboutin Open Clic's. Subtle little patent peep toes with a 4.5" heel.

I felt like playing dress up

So today I had a great idea (or too much time on my hands) & decided to try to wear an ascot..

(this is me having the idea)

My boyfriend has many so I figured they wouldn't be difficult to to tie.
...Well I was wrong!
After many youtube tutorials I started getting frustrated

until I finally got it right (sort of)

Ascots can be fun little accessories, plus the "men style clothing" trend is making a comeback.
I paired it with a striped Zara blazer & really liked how the patterns mixed.

What a slap on the face!

Sergio Rossi's 2010 resort collection was a like a slap on the face for me! It sort of went like this:
Rossi: "Are you the girl who is calling my shoes ugly?
me: ummm sort of?
Rossi: Well take a look at these!

and woooowza they are fierce little peep toes... not too shabby Mr.

Happy New Yearrrr!!!!!!!!

I feel like this is going to sounds like some sort of acceptance speech for an award.. but here it goes..

1. I want to thank all of you guys for reading this little piece of work. I have finally found a way to share my passion for fashion with someone other than myself & surprisingly you guys like what I have to say!

2. May 2010 bring all happiness, and may all your wishes come true!

Now to the juicy stuff.. This is my end of the year outfit

I decided to keep it simple with black & white... but I followed my own advice from the shine post with a glittery VBH clutch. My skirt is a BCBG bandage skirt (I am obsessed like Mariah with these and they have great summer colors!)

For shoes I decided to wear my Christian Loubotin Mary Jane's.

.. and I found the most beautiful ring in a little boutique (you have to look very closely to see it). I loved the place so much I might do a post on it.

.... and last, but not least..

Let me introduce you to Chuck Bass my fashionable boyfriend. Although you guys don't see it, he is a strong force behind this little blog. Who knows maybe in 2010  I'll start a men's blog too with his help.

Manolo gets playful

..with polka dots that is! After my daily visit to my favorite blog in the whole wide world (after mine) Fashionising. I came across this spread of the January 2010 UK Vogue, and aside from the beautiful Thakoon dress there was something else that called my attention. Her polka dot shoes of course.

I started my research to find out to who's collection they belonged to.. and found out that they are part of the Manolo Blahnik spring 2010 collection.

Well, that took me by surprise.. specially considering that he is a fan of the little heel (that's what I call everything under 5"). The shoes look really high, and the polka dot pattern is lovely. It reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw is Paris.
