Job hunting day 1

Sadly I am recently unemployed.. but on a good note I have been called for 3 interviews already and (crossing fingers) hopefully I will soon find a suitable place to work my life away.

Today I decided to enjoy my interview (I am not one to like them) misery by dressing up & posting my business-y outfits for you guys. I had a little bit of a Palermo's vibe today. 

What will I feel like tomorrow?

Nude is the new black

My mother always told me "when in doubt wear black"... and I always stuck to her sound advice. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why 99.9% of my closet consists of black garments.
Let's face it.. black is trendy, slimming, and pretty much goes with everything BUT is it essentially a fall color. Don't we agree?
So if you want to wear something equally appealing but less harsh and more romantic why not try nude.

 The non-color has been the object of designer's affection in spring rtw runways.

Take Valentino and Burberry Prorsum for example

Celebs are also taking notice of this trend..

A cute way of incorporating nude to your wardrobe without going all out is trying it on your nails.

Essie's color Allure has the perfect shade of nude.

The way I see is " a little change never hurts". I know we have been attached to black "this" and black "that" for as long as we can remember.. but is just for spring

we will be back to black for next fall.

Highlights of Paris fashion week

It is finally that time of the year!

The time for our favorite household names to unveil their creative geniuses in their extravagant Haute couture shows.

I present to you Paris’s Haute Couture spring/summer 2010 collections (actually I should have said MY favorite collections).

First up Valentino held on Jan. 27

Let's see...

Valentino's Haute Couture show, used to be well.. COUTURE and now it just looks like another ready to wear collection. Where is the extravaganza please! Thank God for Dior! (which I will discuss later).

but anyways with that said... I am not totally disappointed at Chiuri & Piccioli's work (the craftsmanship of the predominant chiffon was impeccable). I actually like the direction the line is taking, but it just doesn't feel like it is Valentino anymore.

Now it's Chanel's turn... and you all know that even if the Chanel collection was hideous I would still find it breathtaking.

But seriously when is Chanel ever hideous?

The show was held Jan. 26 and Uncle Karl opted for a very different palette this time.

Yep, that's right.. no more black or navy. The collection was silver and pastel in its entirety.

Magnifique!

Last is Dior... and Galliano sure knows how to put a smile on my face.

He played with the theme of Equestrian Glamour and everything from the dresses, the models, the makeup, the hair & the music screamed Paris Fashion week on his Jan. 25 show.

Absolutamente no! (absolutely not)

That is what Italian designer Valentino Garavani says when he doesn't get his way. How do I know this? Well, by watching his 2008 film "The Last Emperor" (late, I know) in which my favorite oompa loompa (and I say that with love) debuted his fabulous diva personality, as well as his last collection after 45 years of living and breathing couture.


I am no movie critic but this movie is a must watch. It gave me that "this is why I love fashion feeling".
It shows the passion that he puts into creating clothes, and the effort that is put into creating high couture pieces.
The movie also has the sad factor, because Valentino's retirement means the end of period where clothes weren't just clothes..clothes were art, pure, handmade garments. That is a concept that is not completely lost, but that culture of fashion for the sake of beauty is slowly being pushed away by the craze of manufacturing and selling, selling, selling.
Also, did I mention it is hilarious! Seriously, who doesn't love a pushy little orange man!
I fell in love with Valentino all over again
