Hey guys remember that little poll I had you guys do where I was undecided as to what shoes to buy?
Well.. I have actually failed to tell you that aside from the tangerine Loubotin sandals I ended up to my pocket's dismay also getting the black patent tribute YSL's.
I promise to properly introduce them with a photoshoot..but for now here is a sneak peak and don't be fooled by that crazy looking heel they are the most comfortable shoes on the planet!! I have worn them so much already that my Louboutins are starting to get jealous.

Also I wanted to show you guys the detailing of this olive Zara blouse. I had been wanting something military looking because that's the one MUST have trends for both spring and fall. It's really beautiful in person and has great great material.

Thumbs up for my friend Zara..

xoxo

He is so fabulous he even makes me more fabulous...

I am a proud proud girlfriend to announce that my boyfriend has officially entered Esquire's Best Real Dressed Man 2010 contest. He had been wanting to do it for a while..but never really took the initiative until now.
What can I say... I taught him well...
Check out his profile at esquirebdrm.com under Hebert M. and help him win.

A standing ovation

We are not strangers to the idea that the fashion industry is an eat or be eaten one.
In this process of Darwinism designers need to evolve and embrace new concepts in order to stay in the lime light.
Fashion, rather than commercial means is a form of artistic expression, and a fashion show is well.. as SHOW were a designer's wildest dreams come true.
..and nobody puts on a show better than John Galliano for Christian Dior's Fashion House.
I looked over a decade of Haute Couture shows by Monsieur Galliano and noticed that he truly is a master of design as an art form. His shows are not only about beautiful garments but also embrace different themes.
Here are my findings, along with the names I gave each show.

Spring 2001
Naughty Librarian
all about the lingerie trend & red luscious lips

Fall 2002
Copacabana
Channeled tropical exotic dancers with outrageous headpieces

 Spring 2003
Madame Butterfly
His interpretation of the modern Geisha

Fall 2003
Guernica

Spring 2004
Nefertiti
This show was all about the Egyptian culture

Fall 2004
Austro-Hungarian princess

Fall 2005
The picture of Dorian Gray

Spring 2006
The French Revolution

Fall 2006
Joan of Arc
He was one of the pioneers of the woman warrior concept

Spring 2007
Japanese Blossom

Fall 2007
Lady Dior
My personal favorite

Spring 2008
Garden tea party

Fall 2008
Amelia Earhart

Spring 2009
High society

Fall 2009
Modern Moulin Rouge

Spring 2010
The art of Equestrianism

Fall 2010... doesn't this leave you wondering what could possibly be next?

Nude is the new black

My mother always told me "when in doubt wear black"... and I always stuck to her sound advice. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why 99.9% of my closet consists of black garments.
Let's face it.. black is trendy, slimming, and pretty much goes with everything BUT is it essentially a fall color. Don't we agree?
So if you want to wear something equally appealing but less harsh and more romantic why not try nude.

nude is the new black The non-color has been the object of designer's affection in spring rtw runways.

Take Valentino and Burberry Prorsum for example

Celebs are also taking notice of this trend..

A cute way of incorporating nude to your wardrobe without going all out is trying it on your nails.
Essie's color Allure has the perfect shade of nude.

The way I see is " a little change never hurts". I know we have been attached to black "this" and black "that" for as long as we can remember.. but is just for spring
we will be back to black for next fall.

Mission Impossible

I know, I know I've been MIA ..it's been a mission to be able to actually sit down and write.. and BELIEVE ME a little piece of my heart was with my blog at all times.
This Weekend Miami's Nikki Beach was hosting its Addicted to Fashion event, and I was given the opportunity to intern.
It was a LOT of work, but very very worth it!

Although I had literally NO time to write, I did remember you guys and photographed some of my outfits.

Now that I am back with lots of things to say let the posting madness begin!

p.s - while trying to regain strength to start working out again after a hectic week I came across this...

shallow shallow Mr. Lagerfeld, but yet another reason to love you

Spring RTW

It's finally time to put into practice all that pre-spring/summer trend knowledge.
So I decided to put a little list together to help us all ease into this transition.

1. The number one trend for spring will always be COLOR.. no matter what anybody says nothing makes a girl happier than looking at a colorful wardrove after months of black, nude, and gray.
But there is such thing as too much color & for those of us who have a hard time deciding on what is too much why not ease into it with a RJ Graziano necklace. I have the aqua one and I have worn it out!!
$ 68.00 at Nordstrom

2. Stripes: It's all about the Lady Gaga jailbird telephone look. She is a trend setter no questions asked.
Cropped tees are also in full force! The striped one from topshop is only $ 28.00.

3. Military: I have been wanting to buy this Patricia Fields hat for agessss!! ($ 40) .. but I am not sure if I will have the courage to actually wear it in public! While I make up my mind a kaki blazer will do. Add a military belt and you are ready for Vogue.

4. Easy on the body dresses: It's summer, we want movement and something we could wear over our sunburned bodies (that would be a yes please! for me right now). I specially LOVE the gray drape mesh tunic from Topshop $65.00.

Items in this set:
Flute One Shoulder Dress, $90
Petite Stripe Knot Crop Tee, $28
Ruched Sleeve Blazer, $125
Torn white striped jersey 'Astrid' tube mini skirt, $74
Mesh Drape Layer Tunic, $65

What other trends will you be wearing this summer?

I've got a situation...

and no it's not related to the Jersey Shore.. more like Miami Beach!
Let's just say I can't even bring my fingers to type..
too much sun + too little sunscreen = lesson learned..
but then again I always tell myself the same thing and end up doing the opposite the first day of beach season.
Can you blame me? I know we have all been guilty of  looking at our legs after winter and with horror seeing them look transparent... and that's not all.. right there and then we have all made ourselves the promise to bake in the sun until looking golden fried. Am I right?
Ok no more excuses for me.. It all happened because I am not a fan of self tanner, which I bet can be blamed on Perez Hilton and his million daily pictures of Lindsay Lohan looking forever orange ..

Anywayyss moving on to vital relationships..

meet my new loves..
I met them in Style.com while watching Dior's rtw fall 2010 collection.

and..thanks once again to John Galliano my hopes of a well deserved vacation are once more shut.
I simply can't have a relaxing get away thinking about these while drinking mango margaritas!!

Impossible...

In the meantime all I can do is dream..

xoxo a then a happy  and shoe-less gossip girl

ps. I am sort of in love with CW's newest reality show High Society starting Tinsley Mortimer..but I don't want to jump to conclusions yet because I've seen nothing but episode one. Watch it this Wednesday at 9:30 and let me know what you think .. they call it sex and the city meets gossip girl.
.. they wouldn't throw those names for nothing..

Not your average Daisy Duke

For some reason I am not a big fan of denim. Contrary to everybody else's opinion instead of making me feel chill, I find this material uncomfortable. Obviously I own & wear jeans..but I take a very Ditta Von Tease approach to them..only when I absolutely have to!
The bad news (at least for me) is that denim is one of the biggest summer trends this summer.. so I am obliged.

That's why I went on a mission to find a few pieces that would make me fall in love with denim or at least want to wear it some more.. and mission accomplished. This summer I will be saying adieu to my denim-phobia!

Not a lover of pants like myself? Give denim a girly feel with these little numbers.. or something similar.

Net-a-porter Lover Linen Corset denim dress $405

This Alexander Wang shirt/skirt combo can also be a lovely choice.

Asos $230.77 for a more casual look.

For those who don't want to dress it up, try a denim shirt! They are SUPER HUGE right now

Packsun $ 30.00

... and if you are big on showing your legs.. how about some Daisy Dukes?

Victoria Secret has a nice selection for $40 and under.

Happy shopping!

black shades on my face..

Ohhh Sun thank you for showing up again!... which reminds me... I need a new pair of sunglasses!
If you haven't heard, Madame Diane Von Furstenberg came up with a new line this year.. as if we needed another reason to love her.
and with the 1970's inspired shades she is bringing sexy back to our eyewear collection... take that JT!
Think retro, colorful, and stylish all a DVF girl would love in her closet reduced into a pair of sunglasses.
& a plus plus.. a $ 125.00 - $ 175.00 range that won't break our pockets.

$ 125.00

$ 145.00

..Merci Diane, J'adore!

Parents beware..

Good Morning Upper Eastsiders and wanna be Upper Eastsiders (like myself):
Gossip girl Our favorite treat is back & full throttel for what it seems!
Did anyone watch the Hurt Locket yesterday?
Drama drama drama. The episode was good.. not as good as season 1 episodes but has there ever been a season like the first one?
The cons: Chuck being a sob story... Let it go C, we preferred you as a party animal. All that business talk is making you unappealing.. and close to your 40's.
Dan Dan Dan... I have never liked his character so no matter what he will always be a con for me..but anyways what was his purpose in this epissode? He spent like 5 minutes of airtime.
The pros: Serena and Nate.. didn't really think I would like this pair at first.. but now they are growing on me.. I wonder if that has anything to do with their steamy hookup!
B... you are great, keep it up!.. BUT stop pretending you are Chuck's wife please... I kind of like you better in scheming mode.
That was your episode recap.. now on to fashion..

Dear S.. auction that bag please!

This dress looked amazing on her.. I just wished they would have bothered to do her hair for once.

B looked like an old lady..but a really cute old lady. Her earrings and blazer are to die for!

Little J just looks misunderstood.

So what did we think about the Hurt Locket?
you know you love me,

It's about time!!!

I have to say this is the first time I have ever seen the entire Academy Awards show instead of just the red carpet & it is not exactly because I am a film buff... the reason why I stayed glued to my TV was Sandra Bullock. (I felt like if I was watching she had a greater chance of getting the best actress award) & she finally did it.. so Congrats to America's Sweetheart! Not only was she a winner for her movie The Blind Side, but also for her dress. From the waist down it might not be the most gorgeous dress I have ever seen Sandra wear..but she sure looks pretty.. let's be realistic she would still look beautiful wearing a sack of potatoes. Plus she is matching her golden man!

Another one who dressed the part was Meryl Streep with her Chris March white gown. One of the best of the evening!
She looked about 10 years younger. Maybe Miranda Priestly is finally becoming her alter ego and that would def. be a good thing!

SJP's wore a Chanel dress that was... well... interesting
I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it.. and the more I look at it the more I like it.
But then again it is one of those dresses that only SJP seems to make work.

Chanel lover Diane Kruger continues to make uncle Karl proud. Yes.. some people may not be fond of ruffles..but how can you say no to this dress?

My second favorite was Rachel McAdams, she opted for simple elegance, and you can never go wrong with that. This Elie Saab gown has such a magic tone to it that if I continue to talk about it, Rachel will become my first favorite of the night.

Cameron Diaz was also shinning in Oscar de la Renta..but what else is new? She is one of the rare celebs that already know what looks good on them & make very few fashion mistakes.

The award for the most pleasant surprises goes to Jennifer Lopez and Anna Kendrick.
It's been sometime since I have seen JLO look this good!... She better send Armani a thank you note! As far as the Twilighter.. is it me or is Hollywood being really good to her? She did not look as pretty in the vampire movies! Her Elie Saab dress is beyond words.

I think it's a waste of time for me to talk about Zoe S. because I would probably start making up synonyms for gorgeous. The girl can rock Givenchy!.. end of story.

That was the Oscar's...until next year!
